To All The Pets I Have Before ... (1980-2005)

Sorry if I have caused you many uncomfortable situations (and deaths). I
have never realized that ignorance could resulted so bad.

To Star, big white dog (kindegarten years):

I didn't have the chance to pet you much. Since at the time you were nothing but a big, noisy, white beast tied up to a kennel. You were only freed at night, to watch our spacious yard where belimbing trees grew. Sorry, sorry, sorry... My aunt's biggest mistake was spraying you with Baygon to kill your
fleas ... and you ... =((

To Sheba and Ciku (late elementary years):

The best Pekingnese and Pomerine us little girls would ever had. You guys were the queens! Made lots and lots of puppies (my friends loved them).

You two were always the victims of me and cousin J's rivalry. We would dressed you up with ribbons to determine which of us the better hair dresser. (She won, of course.)

Our greatest childhood grieve was when you died, Sheba, followed by you Ciku few years later, before we all moved out from the big spacious house and started our lives separately. As if you didn't want to
leave that place. =((

To Dewi (early elementary years)

None of us knew why my grandma called you that. I never had the courage to call you when my friend (also named Dewi ) visited our house. Dewi, you were the best nurturing mommy dog I ever had. Your record was 9 puppies in one labor! Well, although only half of them passed the first month... My maids even called you Dewi Sri! =))

You've escaped the horrible death in the hands of Bataknese who lived outside our big spacious house. My grandma (fed up with all the puppies you produced regularly) sold you to them when we kids at school. But you ran away from those butchers and followed our maid back home when she was shopping in the nearest market. It made us loved you even more and hated
grandma (for few hours).

You died of old age, having dozens of little Dewis and Dewas =)) and buried peacefully under the big Nangka tree in front of
our house.

To Hero and Pedro (late elementary to early junior high years)

The two male dogs among the bitches! No one dared to put you guys in one place at one time, because you two were eternal enemies. That's why Hero was in charge of the back yard, and Pedro the front yard.

Hero, the big, bulky, fierce dog. Wanted best bitches, tried so hard to beat Pedro, the all-black, gentle, nice one. But, like in every fairy tale, the good always win. =)

You two fighters met tragic ends, Pedro, those evil Bataknese poisoned you. My dad regreted your death so much. On many occassions, he mentioned you as the best dog he ever had. While Hero, after we left the spacious house, you
ran away and got hit by a car. =((

To Fuci (late junior high years to 2005)

You are the greatest pet I have in the last 10 years. I remember receiving you from cousin H when you were only a 5 kg puppy. How I watched you grew from an adorable brown puppy, to be a grumpy old dog. Kids hater, tukang bakso hater, pemulung hater, neighbour's chicken lover.

I remember the time when dad had to hide your murder victim, an innocent little chick who lost in our yard (*wink*) while outside we heard the owner was asking to her self, "Now, I remember we have more chickens than this ..." =))

My handsome Fuci, although many would not agree. But you were the best. You couldn't be poisoned easily (proven), be drugged easily (proven - 4 tablets of sleeping pills did not have any effects on you when we had to move to another new house), be bathed easily (which made the task of bathing you
fall under my jurisdiction)

Tapi takdir memang kejam ...

When we (for the umphteen times) moved to a new house, we couldn't take you. I held you for hours before my dad dragged you into a car that took you to your new place, the factory... I felt so like a traitor ... sorry, sorry, sorry ... I will visit you as often as possible ..

December 24, 2005:

Batata was walking to the nearest ojek station. Her eyes fixed to a fur ball
tied up in the corner. Blond fur and big eyes, a Pomerine, tied up with
plastic rope to a pole. Sitting on the ground where she could see dozens of
ants circling around.

Batata to tukang ojek: Whose is this?
Tukang ojek: We found it in the gutter. No one owned it. Do you like it?
We'll sell it to you.

And Vicky, you are now in Batata's list of All the Pets I Have ...
